My story is going to be about Master Life. When I first came to Summerville in the early 1980s, I met some lovely ladies at Old Fort that invited me to be a part of their Master Life group. I felt this was a way that I could come to know some of the ladies at Old Fort and would be a growing time in the Lord for me. Ginnie Carter was the leader of our group and Betty Barton was another person in our group. We met once a week and there was a lot of work and memorization involved in Master Life but we all grew in the Lord. It took us several months to complete the course. In the summer, there was a group of ladies that went to Ridgecrest and while we were there, Dr. Avery Willis, the man who wrote Master Life, happened to eat supper with us. What a treasure to meet the man whom we had studied his material. It was awesome! He talked with us and signed our Bibles. It was a moment in time that we will all remember. We serve an awesome Savior, Lord, and King and always take advantage of every opportunity to Study His Word and Grow closer to Him.

Last Monday I flew to St. Louis to be with my brother Roger who was to under an angiogram. He had recently done poorly in a stress test which was done as a follow up to the placement of five stents in his heart eighteen months ago.
Roger picked me up at the airport and we proceeded to drive toward his home. The temperature was about 15 degrees and a freezing rain had begun. As we proceeded down a four lane highway, we hit a patch of black ice and the vehicle spun around at least 360 degrees and into a ditch where we rolled over twice. By God's grace, we were both able to climb out of my brother's totalled truck. Passers bye stopped and called 911 and we were transported to the nearest hospital for xrays, CT scans, etc. Miraculously, we appeared to have no major injuries.
During the several hours we spent in the hospital, I was given the opportunity to witness to by brother and talk to him about his spiritual condition. Roger had made a profession of faith as a young boy but for his entire adult life he has lived basicaly in rebellion. For the first time in my many attempts to talk to him, he was receptive and said he believed his salvation experience as a boy had be genuine.
On Wednesday, Roger learned that he had 90% blockage in his arteries and was scheduled for surgery on Friday. On Thursday evening he initiated a conversation with me asking about what it meant to rededicate one's life. I explained and prayed with him and I believe Roger truly recommitted his life to Christ (he was uncharacteristically emotional). Though he hasn't been in church in years, he said that he looked forward to going with me. Surgery was a success. Praise the Lord!

Awareness and discernment are key! Are you aware of the opportunities that the Holy Spirit gives you everyday? The one thing that I came away with the most from the Every Believer a Witness Conference is that opportunity to share my story is all around me. I just need to open up my eyes (physically) and my heart (spiritually) and let God work through me. Over the last few days I have made myself more aware of God at work in my life and the lives of people around me. God is so awesome!! In the last 3 days I have had the chance to share my story in my office with a student, with a father at my son's baseball practice and with a waiter at a local restaurant. Praise the Lord for those moments to share. Let's be aware of God at work!!

Yesterdayduring the praise time when the children sign lanuage choir performed, God touched my heart concetning our Grandaughter. She had made a profession of faith as a child. God gave her a talent and it was sign lanuage which she used for him, for years in church. But as she became an adult she moved away from God's plan and purpose for her life. Last year she was married, Mason performed her wedding,as a part of preparing her and her finance' we spent many hours talking to them about putting Christ first in their lives and in their marriage, her husband had also been saved as a child. Altho they listen they never made that committment.

Yesterday God spoke to me about talking to her again. They had been on prayer list. After church I went by their home. I share with her how God had spoke to me so strongly I had to come by and talk to her again, and remind her of her salvation experinece and how she how moved away from God's plan and purpose for her life. I told her God loved her more than I did and wanted to show both of them His love and bless their lives, but could not until they made Him first place in their lives, they are expecting their first child.
I also told them that I didn't want them to wait as long as her Grandfather & I had to put Christ first in our lives or her own mother.
She said, I don't want to be a hypocrite, I am just not ready put Christ first place in my life. I told altho I would have loved to have heard a different awswer, unless Christ was dealing with her heart and drawing her to himself, then any decision she made would be worthless.
I then invited her and her husband to the discipleship study we are doing at our home, as a way to take a step towards putting Christ first place.
Please pray for Brittani and Bruce

Praise God! David prayed with a co-worker/friend today and after years of prayers and lots of long conversations, he accepted Christ today! He even asked for a Bible, so don't you know we got a Bible and a copy of Purpose Driven Life sent overnight!

Please continue to pray for Matt, as he is startind a new life, changing old ways, hoping to witness to an atheist father, but most of all, becoming a new, better father and husband to his wife and kids who are saved!

It is really amazing the opportunities that God gives you when you ask Him to. I have a friend that has been on my heart for a few years now and I thought of him again this week. Out of nowhere he called me just to say hello. I knew this was my God appointed opportunity and He made it come right to me. I talked to my friend again about his life and faith. Although he did not make any decisions I felt blessed by the time I had to talk to him again and tell him that I would be praying for him just like I have done for quite a while. Since he claims to be atheist I am also thankful for the tract that I was able to pick up that he will be receiving in the mail. Thank you Lord for giving me the joyous task of sharing your Word and Love!!! You Are Awesome!!!!

I struggled ever since Sunday evening when Daryel asked us to "picture someone we know that is not a christian." I immediately thought of my 85 year old grandmother who I only remember once in my life of her going to church. Keep in mind this was to hear my Dad preach when he did a revival in her town. I can only imagine how nervous he may have been! My brothers and I have not been very close to her as we grew up. My other side of the family are all Christians and it just always seemed like we were "more of a family." I am ashamed to say I have not talked to her in a couple of years. Yes. I am a horrible grandchild!

I knew the Holy Spirit was speaking to my heart that I needed to have the nerve to call her. I passed up Monday, Tuesday and half the day Wednesday. I finally decided I couldn't take another night of Daryel asking if we did our assignment today and me saying to myself, "No. I didn't do it again, but he just doesn't know how hard this is!"

I sat down with my address book in front of me, dialed her number and prayed that she wouldn't answer and I could just leave her a message...but that was not God's plan. I can't explain why I was so nervous about speaking to an 85 yr old woman that's over 600 miles away, but I was!

Anyway, she answered and sounded pleasantly suprised that I called. We made small talk about the weather, my uncle, cousins, all kinds of stuff. After about 10 or 15 minutes of this, she brought up a friend of her son and daughther-in-law that she doesn't even know. She told me of how she had been diagnosed with cancer and given 4-6 weeks to live. "THIS IS IT", I said. I knew God was getting us to the point! I said, "Grandma, you know, that's something to think about. I mean, I might die going to th grocery store today. You never know when you are going to die. By the way, I'm taking a class at church and I'm doing a little bit of homework. I need to ask you a question. What do you think is going to happen to you when you die? "

She chuckled and said," Well, you asked the wrong person. I don't know...I guess they will just take my body and bury it in some dirt!"

I told her that God created us and he did not go to all the trouble for us to be done when we die here on earth. He wants us to be with him much longer than that! We have a choice of Heaven or Hell and he wants us to simply say a prayer, ask him to save us, forgive us and he expects nothing in return. We can do just that and go to heaven!"

O.K. I know that's not exactly the Roman road and I couldn't make a sermon out of that, but it's a start. She got quiet, said," I don't know" and then changed the subject. We chatted a bit more, and I told her I would let her go, but I wanted her to think about what I had asked her. She said she loved me and I told her the same. She even thanked me for calling, I think.

My Grandma may not have gotten saved today. Then again, she may have prayed to God after we got off the phone and accepted him. I did write her a note and put a tract in the envelope, the one on making peace with God.

Please pray I will know when and how to talk with her again. I'm not proud of the fact that this girl that has been a Chrisitan most of her life has not been leading people to Christ, but we all gotta start sometime!

THANKS DARYEL!

God is so awesome!! Opportunities are all around us!! We just need to be ready when the opportunity arises. Just a few moments ago, we had the chance to share with a cashier at Wal-Mart. Remember, you have their attention as long as they are ringing up your order. While we were checking out, we took the time to share Christ with her. We rejoiced with her as we concluded our order. We asked the cashier if she was a Christian and she responded with a resounding, YES I AM!!! She also said rather quickly with a huge smile on her face, "Thank you for caring enough to ask!" Be open today to share your story.
