FORTY DAYS OF DEDICATED PRAYER
From Tim and Linda Long, members of Old Fort Baptist Church:

For a long time both of us have known that God answers prayer. This piece of knowledge for us has been fairly generalized because, as Christians, we know that this is what God does.
However, when we took Pastor Eric’s challenge concerning “40 Days of Dedicated Prayer” between Mother’s and Father’s Day, this piece of knowledge smacked us right between the eyes in its reality. Because we were “keeping a written record” of answered prayer through our e-mails to Pastor Lethco, God’s response to our combined and audible prayer was revolutionary!
The list continued to grow and grow! Some of our prayers had been lifted to God for years…some for months…some for less than an hour before we received His answer.
For a VERY long time we had prayed for our wayward granddaughter to terminate a destructive relationship in which she had been involved. Before the end of our first week of “praying audibly as a couple”, we received a phone call from her telling us that the relationship was over! Praise God! She also told us that she had returned to school and was furthering her education in the area of dentistry.
During this time, Linda’s cousin was involved in a horrific motorcycle accident. His injuries were unimaginable. But for the Grace of God, Steven would not have survived. Yet, he is still with us and is healing very slowly, but steadily! Thank you God!
Steven’s 6-year-old niece was born with Rett’s Syndrome ( a genetic disorder) that presents physical and mental challenges for those precious little girls who are affected. MacKenzie ‘s situation was deteriorating rapidly and she needed a delicate surgery in order to survive. She, too, is still with us. We are praying for God’s miracle to correct this gene deformity because we know that He can perform it, but we are grateful that she is still here bringing joy to our family!
Another family member was recently diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (a usually non-survivable cancer). Brad is midway his experimental treatment protocol at M.D. Anderson Clinic in Texas and at last report was responding beyond all expectations. God is GOOD!
Our daughter works in retail and has a work schedule involving all hours on the road. We have prayed for her travel safety. One morning she noticed that her car was vibrating as she drove. A “God Prod” had her stop at the dealership. The mechanic said that he was nervous driving the car as he took her to work. Upon examination, they discovered that all four tires on her relatively new car were worn down to the steel belt….but for the Grace of God.
Before her second attempt at taking her driver’s test, after practicing most of the day, granddaughter Rachael and I prayed for calmness and clear thinking. Rachael is now driving…God sits on her bumper!
In the interest of time, we have not shared all of God’s answered prayer on our behalf…BUT
In closing, I want to tell you that for two years we have been praying for our home in West Virginia to sell. Before Father’s Day…we had a contract. Thank you, God
Please pray with me………

I was wondering if i could bless god,he may wonder the same thing considering all the time i spend asking him to do the same for me. Do you think he look's at the big clock up there and say's you have five minute's lee, what if you got a busy signal instead of his mercy, grace, forgiveness. Of course god will never push us away , but i think our pride sometimes swallows up all of our best gifts before they get to the alter.ybic,Lee

Passion Plays have such a strong message and they can be a real eye opener to a lot of Christians or even members of other faiths. I love the message of Hope that this one sends.

The Passion Play to me is such a moving experience: One that I can attest to my faith in our lord and savior in such ways. To actually see the play itself really is a test to anyone's faith: A test not only to see if you would side with the mob (peer pressure) vs. your faith itself (Christ walking along with his cross to bear). - "For everything give thanks to the Lord." - 1st Thessalonians 5:18

Michelle: My family and I attended your passion play on Fri,April 3. This was our first time attending, we had heard so many great things about it but had never attended. We did not have tickets and we were welcomed by your staff to come on in!! We were truly blessed by the wonderful presentation of Jesus crucifixtion. The theme of HOPE was meant for this program. This was such a wonderful program to see at Easter. I am in hopes that my family and I will attend this program in the future. I pray your church will continue to do!! I am a Christian and to see Jesus being whipped brought tears to my eyes at your play but to know and understand that he did this for me as well as others is so overwhelming at times! He is truly my HOPE. THANKS AGAIN FOR A WONDERFUL PRESENTATION!!

Denise: Just wanted you to know- you guys did an excellent job again this year. My little ones enjoy the play and ask to go every year. This year, my littlest one- Josh (7)- got saved during the invitation. Praise God! Thank you so much for all of your sacrifice put into the production and making yourselves a vessel for the Holy Spirit to move and forever change people's lives!

When the time came to start preparing for the Passion Play, I decided I wasn't going to do it, knowing that I would be 9 months pregnant. However, at some point I decided to give it a go. I'm so glad I did! What a blessing to be a part of such an amazing act of worship and outreach. This was my second year, and even thought it's a huge commitment, it's so worth it! It is a privilege to be a part of something like this. Paul and I are moving sometime this summer, so unfortunately we won't be a part of it again, but will always remember and cherish our memories here. We will miss Old Fort so much!
