Even though our prescribed challenge to Pray together as couples has ended, we hope you will consider keeping this great tradition alive in your home.  What a blessing to pray for and hear prayers for family members by family members, especially for spouses.  I don’t know of any greater “family glue” than that of prayers voiced for each other audibally.  Write a comment below on how God has affected your marriage and/or life with prayer.  I look forward to hearing from you and sharing the testimonies of God’s great work in your lives.

Passion Play 2009: HOPE

Although the Passion Play has come and gone, there is still chance to share what God has or is still doing in your life. Please continue to share with us as we keep this page open for a while longer. We will move on though when God presents the next season to us. Thank you again for your participation and sharing in God’s Kingdom work through this year’s Passion Play: Hope.

The Worship Choir is taking a break from Wednesday rehearsals and are being fed in the Pastor’s mid-week Bible Study, “A Vibrant Church”.  Rehersals will resume on Wednesday, September 2nd.  

In the meantime, many chior members are staying active in their worship leadership by supporting our Praise Choir which meets on Sunday mornings at 10:40 AM in the Rehearsal Room and leads our 11:00 congregation in Praise Music at the beginning of the service each week.  

FALL SEASON INFO:  Our Fall Worship Season will begin with a Fall Fellowship on Sunday, August 30th following the 1100 worship service.  The lunch will be in the Ministry Center.  At the luncheon, theme and schedule for the new season will be shared by Erik.  We are asking for a $3 donation to help cover some of the costs per person for lunch.  All family members of cuurent worship ministry members are invited. 

We are also inviting new prospective members to join, so if you know someone, invite them to come out that day to hear our vision and plans for the fall.  For new, prospective members, the lunch is FREE. 

Both members and future members need to RSVP to Erik to make sure we have enough lunch prepared.  Rehearsal will resume on Wednesday, September 2nd at 6:30 in the Rehearsal Room.  I look forward to seeing you all there and some new faces too.

What Jesus do you Know?

Dr. Lethco is sharing from the Gospel of Mark in the New Testament.   The title of his sermons are “Jesus:  The Man”.  The messages have been a great reminder of who Jesus really was.  Over the years, we tend to make our Savior out to be something else, something that really doesn’t even resemble the true character that He was. 

Come this week to hear more of this man called Jesus and how He has called us to Follow Him!  Following the message, think about your life of discipleship, does it match what Jesus taught?  Or has it become something drastically different, somewhat watered down, traditionalized, and predictable.  The last few sermons have reminded me that Jesus was far from predictable.  When it is all said and done, I do want Jesus to know me and be my Lord.  Do you?

How has God changed your life?  Has he taken a part of your life that wrong tattered, torn, maybe looked like a broken piece of cardboard and made it something beautiful? 

If you have a one-two word testimony to share, contact me so we can recruit you to share during an upcoming worship time at OFBC.  All that is required that you write your one-two word testimony on opposing sides of the cardboard and be willing to walk across the platform and hold up the sign for others to see…nothing needs to be said.  The music and setting will say it all.  Here is an example:  Perhaps Jesus has taken away your desire for drinking…your words could be…”alcoholic” – “cleansed by Jesus”.
